Carolina Cabins was founded in 1980 by my dad, Avery Mickel. As a family-owned and operated business located at 809 U.S. Hwy 21 in State Road, NC, we take great pride in crafting custom 6x12 heart-cut white pine log cabins. With hundreds of happy homeowners across the region, our work reflects our commitment to quality and personalized service.
By keeping our overhead low, we are able to offer our log cabins for thousands less than many larger companies. Custom Built Dove-Tail Notch Mill
We specialize in crafting Ole’ Appalachian-style dovetail notch cabins, utilizing our custom mill, built by Avery Mickel in 1980. The “Original” Carolina Cabins is the only Place that offers the Appalachian style logs and all logs are cut on property. To ensure proper settling and accommodate natural expansion and contraction due to weather variations, we personally oversee the log assembly. Additionally, we offer a precut kit option that allows you to stack the cabin yourself for an additional fee, providing a cost-effective alternative by reducing labor expenses.

The building process is straightforward and meticulously managed to ensure the highest quality results. After confirming the desired size and specifications of your custom cabin, we precisely mill the logs to your exact dimensions. Once the foundation and subfloor are fully prepared, we deliver the milled logs to your site, where our skilled team carefully stacks them.
